Dougal Macdonald, Contributor and Forum Moderator
In 2000 Dougal Macdonald entered the South African Body-for-LIFE competition and placed 2nd, and in 2001 and 2002 placed 2nd and 3rd in his age group. He founded and headed up the South African Body-for-LIFE club, with the blessing and support of EAS South Africa and became certified as an EAS success coach. Dougal very quickly realized that this was his calling and formulated a personal mission statement. " To empower 5 million people to find and fulfill their purpose through Health and Fitness."Dougal embarked on a new career and in 2000, MIND | BODY | SUPERFIT was born. Dougal quickly realized that getting fit and healthy, permanently was more about the mind than the body. Yes the training was important but the mind set had to change before permanent health was realistic. Hundreds of clients have learned Dougal's unique methods which go far beyond reps and sets. Dougal has no psychology degree but has been studying the mind and how it relates to human behaviour for over 40 years. According to Malcom Gladwell and the 10,000 hours theory, that makes him a Global expert…albeit without the dissertation.In 2008 Dougal added a feather to his motivational cap. He had a near fatal surfing accident resulting in a very badly broken neck which resulted in 5 major operations over the next year and left him with no mobility between his neck and shoulders and constant discomfort. Dougal sees this as a tool with which to help others overcome adversity and has written two book as a result. "My Triumph over Adversity…What's your excuse " and "The World famous VARGAS happiness system.Dougal is a keen contestant in Physique Transformation contests and takes great delight in motivating, uplifting and encouraging others along the way. So much so that in the 2009 Holiday Challenge Dougal was a category winner, MOST INSPIRATIONAL, and was part of the team that won the TEAM PRIZE.Apart from MIND | BODY | SUPERFIT Dougal is an 'inspirational' speaker and his life is committed to helping others overcame the challenges that face all of us by inspiring them to better things.
