Men's Burn The Fat Challenge Finalists (continued from page 1) On the page below, you'll see more of our Burn The Fat Holiday Challenge finalists (again, in no particular order or ranking). One of the keys to success is to model successful people, so please be sure to visit their journals. I guarantee you'll be inspired and motivated, but you may also be able to pick up some nutrition and training tips that you can apply in your own next fitness challenge. Success leaves clues, and successful people who journal leave lots of them. Near the end of each champion's journal, you'll find their essays - they are all truly inspiring (and don't forget, the essays counted for a full 1/3 of the total score in this contest). Greg Winters
In just 50 days, Greg dropped almost 24 pounds, stripped 4 inches off his waist and decreased his body fat by 4.7%. What's more, Greg exemplified the spirit of this holiday challenge as he achieved these remarkable results without depriving himself or falling into all-or-none thinking. Greg enjoyed his family's holiday food traditions, drank a few glasses of wine and, in his (very honest) food journal, reported a cookie or two passed his lips. But, by being diligent about training and keeping the indulgences as the exception not the rule, he made a finalist-worthy transformation. James Hill
James achieved an incredible 23 pound weight loss in just 50 days during the Burn The Fat Holiday challenge. I know you can do math, but let me break that down for you anyway: that's 3.3 pounds of fat burned per week. His total decrease in body fat was 6.6%, so virtually ALL of this weight was pure fat. That's exactly what he declared he was going to do - burn all fat and retain all the lean muscle. To do that, James trained his butt off... and it paid off! James, you rocked it! Bill Whitlock
Prior to this challenge, Bill had already come a long way. Just a year ago, he weighed 254 pounds (115 kg). At the start of this 50 day Burn The Fat Holiday contest, he was down to 225 lbs, but found it difficult to crack that barrier. Motivated by the challenge of a contest, the desire to be the best father possible and to beat the genetics for heart disease that run in his family, Bill smashed through and burned off 6.2% body fat, decreased his waist by 4.5 inches (11 cm) and dropped 16.3 pounds - all of it pure fat... over the holidays! Steve Dooley
Fire captain, business owner and dad Steve Dooley is busy. Despite his hectic schedule, which is compounded over the holidays, Steve decided he was ALL-IN for this challenge. In just 50 days, Steve pulled off what very few people ever achieve: concurrent muscle gain and fat loss. Steve logged in an amazing 8.4% decrease in body fat, one of the largest drops in the entire competition, while at the same time gaining 5.5 lbs of lean muscle. Check out the impressive new muscle gains in the shoulders, chest and arms, with some major waist shrinkage at the same time. You'd think Steve starved and sacrificed to achieve these results, but in our holiday challenge spirit, he found the healthy balance, including planned cheat meals and even a trip to Disneyland over Thanksgiving.
