BURN THE FAT INNER CIRCLE FIT-TIP OF THE WEEK
----------------------------------

::: MAKE YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE :::

You will always achieve the most when you're working towards a specific goal with a deadline.

However, the part most people miss is that you will achieve EVEN MORE when you have a goal with a deadline AND other people holding you accountable to it.

The top experts in the world on success and personal achievement disagree on many points, but on this one point, they all agree:

When you know you have to report your results to someone else on a regular basis, that provides an incredibly powerful source of motivation and drive.

Jack Canfield, Co-author of the chicken soup for the soul series and Author of "The Success Principles," writes,

"You might choose to work with what I call an accountability partner. The two of you agree to a set of goals that each is working toward and to talk regularly to hold each other accountable for meeting deadlines, accomplishing goals, and making progress. You agree to call each other every week or every other week to make sure you are both following through with your planned actions."

George Leonard, author of "Mastery; The keys to success and long term fulfillment," also agrees about the importance of accountability, and he adds that the best source of support is from people who are on the same journey as you are. George writes:

"It helps a great deal to have other people with whom you can share the joys and perils of the changes you're making. The best support system would involve people who have gone through or are going through a similar process; people who can tell their own stories of change and listen to yours."

Clearly it's important to set goals, but goal setting alone is not enough. If it were, then all the New Year's Resolutions you have ever set, would have come to fruition by now.

If you've set goals in the past and did not achieve them, it may have been for the simple reason that you did not make yourself accountable and you didn't have enough support from like-minded people.

As you begin to think about your goals for the new year ahead, consider some of the many ways you can make yourself more accountable for following through and seeing your goals to completion:

* Commit your goals to writing

* Announce your goals to others who support you

* Enlist the support of your spouse or family members

* Hire a personal trainer

* Hire a personal coach

* Sign up for group exercise classes

* Get a training partner to work out with

* get an accountability partner to check in with

* Enter a competition and announce it

* Join a support community

Many people have a difficult time finding like minded people to share their goals with and to turn to for support when the going gets tough. Perhaps they are in a negative environment at their jobs and their family and friends are indifferent to their new found fitness goals.

That is the purpose behind online support communities such as our Burn The Fat Inner Circle

One of our members said it this way:

"The support is incredible for my Morale (and believe me, I need it). I'm now in my sixth week and keeping at it. I'm excited about the inches I've lost. In past attempts when I'd get to this point (halfway there) I'd get impatient, lose motivation and quit (and subsequently get fat again!). It was such a vicious cycle. I've never made it this far and still felt motivated to keep going. The old saying "No man is an island" is very true. I used to think I was just weak because I couldn't do it on my own. Now I'm glad I asked for support."

- Rikki:)

Whether you get it at home, from your friends, at the gym or in an online group like our Inner Circle, be sure that you have some kind of support and accountability system - it could be the one missing piece to your fitness puzzle and the one major key that sets you up to make 2007 your most successful year ever.

Sincerely,

Tom Venuto, www.BurnTheFatInnerCircle.com
