Fiber And Net Carbs: Should You Subtract Fiber From Your Carb Count???

Low carb dieting has become so mainstream that it has created a huge industry of low carb eating programs, low carb supplements and low carb food products. Some low carb proponents claim that it's important to distinguish between carbs that are fully utilized and the fibrous carbs which pass through your system mostly undigested. The concept of net carbs or low impact carbs was created to help make this distinction... but is subtracting fiber or counting "net carbs" really necessary or just an invention of the low carb food industry? . . .
